I have been hoping for a while now that Rachel would start walking because sometimes life would be easier if I didn't have to carry her everywhere. Well she is not walking on her own yet but she is getting close. She can stand up by her self and balance and she will walk if she has something to hold onto. We are practicing with her every day. A lot of people say that once she is walking, we will wish she wasn't. What do you say? Do you encourage walking or not?

Flashback Friday!

A friend does this on her blog and I hope she doesn't mind if I steal it because it is a cute idea. I'll post an old photo with a description every friday just for fun and to relive some good memories. So here is the first one, it is a picture of Will and I the day we met. I was 17 and he was 20. this was taken at his parents house in Felton, CA. I was friends with his sister and he was in town visiting for a few days so we spent some time together. We actually didn't start dating until 2 years later.

New baby pool
I got Rachel a baby pool for the summer and I thought she would love it since she loves bath time so much but she played for about 5 min and was done. Maybe it was the cold hose water that she didn't like. This picture is her with her cousin Cory.

My cousin's wedding
We went to St. George for my cousin Kim's wedding this last weekend and it was a bit of a crazy day. I was a bridesmaid along with my cousin Michelle and two of Kim's friends. First of all the dress didn't fit right which is not a big surprise. Isn't that the case with most bridesmaids? Then the wedding was supposed to start at 11am but Kim wasn't ready, she was still doing her hair and makeup so everyone had to wait around for two hours before she finally showed up. Then the reception wasn't until 7pm so we went back to the hotel and changed and just hung out in our room for a few hours. I wanted to go swimming but Rachel needed a nap and I didn't want to risk messing up my hair. So at 7pm we went to the reception and had dinner then lite dancing. Have I mentioned that my shoes were killing me! I finally gave in and danced barefoot. The reception was short and fun because Kim was 30 min late (no surprise). I swear that girl can't be on time for anything. She and her new hubby were supposed to catch a plane from Vegas that night and fly to florida because the next day they were getting on a cruise for their honeymoon. Well they missed their plane so they missed their cruise. luckily they worked it out so they could catch a plane to the Cayman Islands to catch up with the cruise. It was quite an eventful weekend.

Lovin' San Diego!
Here is our trip to San Diego! We drove down and met up with my family at a condo in Oceanside. It was a really nice place for a low price. Much better than renting a hotel room for a week. It was great to be by the ocean again, only a few blocks to walk.
We went to most of the typical tourist things. The Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World and Legoland. We also toured the city of San Diego and did a session at the San Diego Temple.
Rachel loved to see all of the animals, she would point and say their name every time she saw one. If she didn't know the name of it she would call it doggy. She even learned to say some of the animal sounds. She can Moo, Meow and quack.
The weather was awesome, in the 70's all week. We are glad we went when we did because it was snowing in Utah while we were gone.
We were so sad to hear about Heather's dad passing away but we were greatful for the opportunity to visit with the family in Apple Valley on our drive back even for just a few hours.
This was such a wonderful vacation, we had a blast and would probably do it again. I think my family enjoyed it even more because they got to spend a whole week playing with Rachel.

Family Photos

Here are our yearly family photos. Last year we went to target and had them done professionally and they turned out good but they were very very expensive. So this year we tried something different. We had a local girl who was trying to start a business take our photos at a local park. they were less expensive and she can use any of them in her portfolio. They didn't turn out as good as last year but I still like them ok. feel free to cut and paste any off the blog to keep for your self. one reason they were cheaper this year is because we didn't have the girl print them for us, she put them on a CD and we can print them ourselves at any one hour photo. There are more photos than what I have posted, I just didn't want to load them all. If you want a CD will all the photos just let me know and I can make you one and send it in the mail.

Rachel's new swing
We have a fun swing set that the previous owners left here but it is not baby friendly so today I went to walmart and got a baby swing for Rachel. I figured she would like it because she has fun on the baby swing at the park. She smiled and laughed a little but I think she had a hard time enjoying it because the sun was so bright. she just kept squinting and looking down. overall a good buy though.

a little bit of our home
Family room in the basement
Standing at front door looking down to the basement, door on right is to garage.
Basement laundry. This room is not finished, I am going to turn it into my salon.
Stairs up to bedrooms
Nice big back yard with lots of space for gardening.
More back yard
Dining room
Kitchen.
We are still slowly unpacking and setting up house so this is all I have to show you right now. We are going to repaint Rachel's room and the extra guest room upstairs so those rooms are still empty. Our upstairs living room is still full of boxes so its not picture worthy yet. I am hoping that we will be all settled in before memorial day because I want to plan a big BBQ for everyone to come over and see the house.

crazy Utah weather
This is our back yard last week. Its April and still snowing! The funny thing is that it was a nice sunny day the day after this snow. Today its in the 70's but its supposed to snow again later in the week. I just wish it was consistently warm already.
